Carl Jones

November 24, 1930 — December 21, 2007

Carl Chester Jones, age 77, died Friday, December 21, 2007, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Haywood County and the son of the late Jesse and Maude Bussell Jones. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Snyder Jones, who died in 1969 and two sisters, Eunice Beck and Velma Ledford. He retired from Champion International in 1993 with over 40 years of service and was a member of High Street Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Geraline McCurry Jones; two sons, Danny Jones and his wife, Sheila, of Canton and Eddie McCurry of Candler; four grandchildren, Jessica Jones Smith and her husband, John, of Clyde, Blake Jones, and Cole and Katie McCurry; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 24, 2007 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Christopher Willett and Reverend Joe Steadman officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John Smith, Gene Bolden, Larry Caldwell, Michael Ferguson, David Gunter, and Mark Sellers. Memorial may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721 or to High Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 65 High Street, Canton, NC 28716.
