Carl W. Shook, Sr., 92, of Candler, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. He was born in Leicester to the late R. Homer and Lois Catherine Sealey Shook. Carl served in the 386th Infantry during World War II, was a member of the Davis Chapel United Methodist Church and retired after 25 years from Harry's Cadillac and Pontiac in 1985. He married his late wife of 66 years, Ruth Murrel Barnes, in Greenville, SC on October 17, 1942.
Carl is survived by his children, Fay (R.J.) Brown of Asheville, Linda (Roger) Blankenship of Mascot, TN and Carl W. (Jayne) Shook, Jr. of Candler; sister, Jean (Paul) Sherlin of Asheville; grandchildren, Rhonda Brown (Frank) Willis, Robert (Brenda) Brown, Greg (Yonah) Blankenship, Michael Shook, Tracy Blankenship (Todd) Howland, Julie Blankenship Cooper; and great-grandchildren, Jordan and Julia Willis, Brandy Shook, McKenna Cooper, Kimber Blankenship, Wade and Nate Hensley and Isaiah Brown.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn, Chapel of Faith at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 5th with Rev. Kevin Bates officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00PM in the chapel prior to the service. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
