Carlos Reid

Carlos Waitsell Reid, age 76, of Fourth Street, died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Memorial Mission Hospital. He was a native of Jackson County and the son of the late Charlie and Essie Nicholson Reid. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Grogan Reid, who died in 2004 and two brothers, Thomas and Chuck Reid. He was the owner and operator of C&J Auto Sales and a member of the VFW Post #5198. Carlos was a United States Army World War II veteran having served in Germany. He is survived a daughter, Carla Anne Reid of Asheville; two sons, Jim Reid of Asheville and Tony Reid and his wife, Wendy, of Canton; two sisters, Margaret Koch of Buffalo, NY and Marilyn Coleman of Dearborn, MI; a brother, Harold Reid of Harrisburg, PA; 5 grandchildren, Rod Pace and his wife, Dori, Matthew Reid, Katie Reid, Austin Reid and Jaxon Reid and 2 great grandchildren, Kelton and Correy Pace. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Christopher Willett officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the VFW Post #5198 Veterans Relief Fund, PO Box 413, Canton, NC 28716.
