Waynesville, Carmen Plott, formerly of Maple Street, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Waynesville, she was the daughter of the late Homer Henry and Marie Hulliger Plott and was also preceded in death by one brother, Homer Plott, Jr. and one sister, Kathryn Marie Plott. A former Civil Service employee in Washington, DC, Carmen also worked at the VA Medical Center in Oteen until her retirement. She was a charter member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Carmen was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville where she taught Sunday-School for 15 years and faithfully prepared the coffee for Wonderful Wednesdays each week. She also visited families in nursing homes and delivered cassettes of Sunday services. She is survived by a cousin, Helen Plott Luckadoo, of Waynesville and the children of her many cousins. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Sanford L. Giles, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the services.
