Carol Johnson

"1929 – 2016" Canton – Carol L. Johnson, 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the home of his sister. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Lester and Lora Jones Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Howard William Payne and a nephew, Howard Edward Payne. Carol was a farmer and a member of Plains United Methodist Church for 84 years. He is survived by a sister, Wanda Johnson Payne of Canton; one brother, Billy Joe Johnson and wife, Anne; a niece, Debra Payne Chambers; and a beloved cousin, Barbara Scroggs Carter. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 24, 2016 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Zach Christy and Reverend Harry Worley officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Plains United Methodist Church, 2029 Newfound Road, Canton, NC 28716.
