Carol Sooy

Canton, Carol Ansink Sooy, age 75, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at J. F. Keever Solace Center.

A native of Bridgeton, NJ she was the daughter of the late Leslie Marvin and Lillian Bodine Ansink. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Sooy, who died in 2008. Carol grew up in Bridgeton, New Jersey and later moved to Pitman, where she and John raised their three children. In 1976, the family moved to Westlake Village, California. After raising her family, Carol pursued a career in real estate, after John's retirement, they formed a partnership and worked side by side for many years at Fred Sands Realtors. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, where she and John sang in the choir. Carol was an avid birdwatcher and always did her best to keep the feeders full. She could usually be found with a book in hand. She loved to camp with family and friends and was well known for her campfire skills. Carol loved to bake and is famous for her Christmas Cookies and Sticky Buns. A holiday did not go by without a gift of an Angel for her collection. She enjoyed watching baseball, from little league to the major leagues…Go Phillies! Carol's greatest love was for her family.

Carol is survived by a daughter, Linda Joy Sooy, of Canton; two sons, Keith and Brian Sooy, both of Canton; a sister, Lois Fabri, and her husband, Ernest, of New Jersey; three grandsons, Keith "Richie" Sooy, II, William David Sooy and Logan Sooy; nieces, Shari (Fabri) Farrell and Pam (Fabri) Pisani; and her beloved Molly, a silky terrier mix.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at St. Peters United Methodist Church, Ocean City, New Jersey.
