Waynesville, Caroline Trine Michelle Lathrop, 27, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 19, 2016. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Eugene Welsh. Caroline graduated from Tuscola High School in 2006 and began Berry College in Rome, Georgia until she was diagnosed with cancer in May of 2008. After diagnosis and in between months and years of treatments, she was able to go back to college to study Religion, then changed her major to Art Conservation and was only a semester away from graduation at UNCA. She was active in Kiwanis, Tuscola Key Club, enjoyed many roles in Spotlights Youth Theatre and several HART productions. She was an active and beloved member of Clyde Central United Methodist Church. Her many passions included visiting museums, scenic photography, music and hiking and camping in our beautiful forests. She leaves behind her loving parents, Robert and Tammy Lathrop and a younger brother, Mark, to cherish her memory. She is also survived by her paternal grandparents, Robert and Claudia Lathrop, of Florida and her maternal grandmother, Carolyn Welsh, of the home; her beloved aunt, Lori Lathrop, as well as many other loving aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special friend, Forrest Ransburg and many other good friends who brought so much joy and fun into her life. Celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend James Hart and Reverend Dan Gaddy officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to SARGE's Animal Rescue Foundation, P.O.
