Carolyn Cope Fisher

Waynesville, Carolyn Cope Fisher, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation.

A lifelong resident of Haywood County, she had worked as a school bus driver and enjoyed her part in creating a happy environment for children’s education.  Carolyn was an amazing wife and mother who deeply loved her family.  A fantastic cook who was famous for her chicken and dumplings which was often requested for church congregation gatherings.  She enjoyed her hobby of crocheting blankets and those she gifted will be treasured keepsakes.

Carolyn is survived by her dear husband of 33 years, Ronnie Fisher; her two children who were the pride of her life, daughter, Shonda Thomas (Jon) and son, Nathan Fisher; brother, Elmer "Dewayne" Cope; sisters-in-law, Donna Massingale and Joyce Fisher Austin (Paul); brother-in-law, Mike Fisher (Alana); and two special nieces, Layna Cope and Bethany Cope.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Ell Cope and Francis Virginia Green Cope.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Beth Eden Baptist Church with Reverend Dale Wheeler officiating.  Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. on Monday at the church.
