Carolyn Stroupe

April 22, 1932 — December 14, 2012

Carolyn Lowe Stroupe, age 80, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012 at MedWest Haywood. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Willie Arrington Lowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherrill Ray Stroupe, who died in 1964; a son, Terry Stroupe, one sister, Sandra Kelly; and one brother, Herman Lowe, Jr. Carolyn worked as a licensed practical nurse at Haywood County and Haywood Regional Medical Center for 26 years and was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross since 1994 and the Asheville area LPN Association. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl S. Guffey; one son, Billy Stroupe and his wife, Linda, of Balsam; three sisters, Shirley Whitt of Candler, Patricia Devlin of Morristown, TN, and Judy Lowe of Clyde; one brother, Kenneth Lowe of Florida; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
