Canton – Carrie Louise Cathey Burnette, age 92, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.
Carrie was a lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late George Webster and Katie Hinson Cathey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester Atlas Burnette, who died in 1980; and a daughter, Sue Hill.
She retired from American Enka with 20 years of service. She enjoyed collecting dolls and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.
Carrie is survived by two daughters, Nancy B. Stamey and Janie B. Mathis; two sons, Danny Burnette and his wife, Robyn, and Billy Burnette and his wife, Dana; five grandchildren, Tony Francis, Robert (Robie) Rhodes, Renee Rhodes McMahan, Brandy Underwood and Haley Fields; and nine great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Josh Fields officiating. Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing will be observed. Mrs. Burnette will lie in state at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., for anyone who wishes to pay their respects.
