Carrie Mae Trantham Wilson, age 80, died Saturday, December 5, 2009, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Carl "Bill" and Gertrude Devlin Trantham. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Carroll Wilson, Jr. and a brother, Billie Trantham. She was a member of Morning Star United Methodist Church where she was a charter member of the Maxwell-Crouse Sunday School Class. Carrie Mae was owner and operator of a dry cleaning business in Canton and retired from Home Town Cleaners. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Carroll Wilson, Sr.; a daughter, Barbara Hyatt of Waynesville; a daughter-in-law, Jean Faulkner Wilson of Asheville; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Morning Star United Methodist Church with the Reverend Doug Love and Reverend Susan Giles officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. Memorials may be made to Morning Star United Methodist Church Improvement Fund, 2535 Dutch Cove Road, Canton, NC 28716 or to Morning Star Cemetery Association Trust Fund, P. O. Box 1746, Canton, NC 28716.
