Waynesville, Carroll Lee Bailey, age 83, of Green Valley Road, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at his residence. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late William and Lillie Dehart Bailey. Carroll was a US Army veteran and worked as a machinist at Dayco Incorporated. Carroll was a beekeeper known as "The Bee Man" and also loved fishing, gardening and hunting. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska. Carroll is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Sue Simonds Bailey; three daughters, Joan Taylor (Rickey) of Busnell, Florida, Connie McClure (Martin) of Waynesville and Rhonda Bailey of Chapel Hill; two sisters, Wilma Gibson (Bob) of Andrews and Dorothy Ogle (C.W.) of Whittier; three brothers, Donald Bailey (Gay Nell) of Sylva, Jack Bailey of Snow Camp, North Carolina and Charles Bailey (Vickie) of Bryson City; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska with Reverend Jimmy Huey and Reverend Rickey Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion Post 47. Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Wayne Edwards, Wayne Edwards, Tod Taylor, Brad Watson, Ricky Gibson and Ryan Bailey. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska, 154 Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, NC 28721.
