Carroll Beck

Sylva-Carroll Dean Beck, age 57, of 94 Snug Haven Lane, Sylva died December 31, 2006 at Harris Regional Hospital. A native of Jackson County, he was a son of the late Grady and Ellen Greene Beck. Carroll was a former employee of Dayco Rubber Mfg., and was a member of Balsam Baptist Baptist Church. He served in the United States Air Force for 14 years and was a former Deacon at Barberville Baptist Church. He loved his family and his grandchildren and loved woodworking and going to Douglas Lake in TN. He helped coach children's leagues thru the Waynesville Recreation Dept. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Joyce Conner Beck, two daughters, Donna McDaniel and her husband Robert of Mooresville, NC and Melissa Beck of Balsam; one son, Brian R. Beck and his wife Lori of Canton, three sisters, Doris Brown and her husband Charles of Balsam, Annie Beck and Barbara Dehil and her husband Bob of Waynesville, one brother, James Arthur Beck and his wife Linda of Waynesville and 5 grandchildren; Amber McDaniel, Seth Brown, Robert McDaniel, Jr., Joseph McDaniel and Hannah Beck. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at Balsam Baptist Church. Reverend Johnny Swanger and Reverend Ned Webb will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
