Carroll Best

Carroll Robert Best, age 83, of the Beaverdam Community, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at MedWest Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Carl and Estella Worley Best. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and J.R. Best. Carroll was known for his simple nature, dedicated work ethic, and love for his family. Near to his heart was his love for farming. You could always find Carroll outdoors working on his land, equipment, or tending to his animals. He will be remembered for his integrity and help he gave to anyone who was in need. Carroll will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucy Scott Best; one daughter, Vickie Best McKinney and her husband, Tracy, of Abingdon, Virginia; one son, Ronnie Best and his wife, Cathy, of Canton; three sisters, Frances Cook and her husband, Bill, and Bobbie King and her husband, Doyle, all of Canton, and Marie Byers and her husband, Joe, of Clyde; and four grandchildren, Chad McKinney and his wife, Cherry, of Summerfield, Amber Burke and her husband, Shane, of Norton, Virginia, Josh Best and his wife, Danielle, of Clyde, and Justin Best and his wife, Amy, of Canton; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Justin Best, grandson, and the Reverend Donnie Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
