Canton, Carroll Wayne "Brub" Queen, Sr., age 83, of Winfield Street, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. A native of Canton, N. C., he was the son of the late Clarence and Dolly Hall Queen; born May 16, 1926. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Willa Mae Price Queen; a brother, Eugene Queen; a sister, Margaret "Mouse" Queen Clark; a grandson, Joey Queen and a step-grandson, Tony Price. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Newman K. Perry in the second world war. Brub is survived by a daughter, Ruthelia (FiFi) Abdian, (Greg); Carroll Wayne Queen, Jr., (Peggy Hill), Tommy Queen (Vickie), Melretta (CiCi) Goodyear (A.J.), Wendell Queen, step-daughter, Diane Hall, step-granddaughter, Tammy Rogers; grandchildren, Allison Zogg (Jason), Tommy Queen, Jeremy Goodyear, Andy Goodyear, Morgan Queen Sutton and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2009 at Long's Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Canton on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Long's Community Cemetery Maintenance Fund, C/O Charlie Evans, 587 Evans Road, Canton, NC 28716.
