Carroll Washington Scott, age 85, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Reverend Irvin and Maude Roberts Scott. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerome and Burder Scott; and two sisters, Juanita Worley and Marilyn Worley. He retired from Champion International with 44 years of service and was a United States Army veteran. He was a member of Rocky Face Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was chairman of the building and grounds committee. Carroll enjoyed carpentry, fishing and hunting, and gardening. He also enjoyed cooking at the Labor Day activities for Rocky Face Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine Clark Scott; three sons, Mike Scott and his wife, Anita, Stephen Scott and his wife, Marcy, and Gary Scott and his wife, Karen, all of Canton; a sister, Jean Cole of Canton; two brothers, Reverend Jack Scott and Bobby Scott of Canton; three granddaughters; a grandson, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Rocky Face Baptist Church with the Reverend Donnie Henson and Reverend H. L. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
