Carroll Trantham

March 9, 1926 — July 22, 2011

Carroll Edward Trantham, age 85, died on Friday, July 22, 2011, at MedWest Haywood. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late Judson D. and Hattie Woody Trantham. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Blazer Trantham, who died in 2005; two sisters, Ocie Swanger and Ollie Shuler; and two brothers, Garland and Lester Trantham. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II. Carroll retired in 1988 from Champion International with 42 years of service. Carroll loved crafts, especially macrame and ceramics which he loved to teach others. He also he loved flowers which he could never grow too many. He enjoyed helping others. He is survived by a son, Terry D. Trantham and his wife, Gail, of Candler; a daughter, Dawn T. Childers and her husband, Tim, of Taylorsville; two sisters, Ann Wike of Catawba and Jean Morgan of Franklin; a grandson, Bryan Trantham; a granddaughter, Kala Trantham; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road with the Reverend Alan Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
