Catherine Brown

Waynesville, Catherine Charlotte Davis Brown, age 84, died on Monday, January 21, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center A native of Green County, GA, she was the daughter of Commadore Spurgeon and Jessie Jordan Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Kennedy Brown who died in 1985; and five brothers, Kenneth, Joe, Marshall, Jack, and Max Davis. She received her BA degree from Lees-McRae College and her BRE degree from Presbyterian School of Education in Richmond, VA. She was a retired school teacher. Catherine taught at Parkway School in St. Louis, MO for 31 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Waynesville where she was a member of Circle Nine and the Asbury Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Hazelwood Boosteretts and the Richland Creek Garden Club. She is survived by two daughters, Ann Brown, of Asheville and Julia Moulton and husband, James, of Longmeadow, Mass.; one son, Everett K. Brown and wife, Deco, of Japan; one sister, Anna Jean Davis, of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers, Claud Davis, of Milton, FL and Chester Davis, of Durham, NC; six grandchildren, Jeff Moulton, Jessie Moulton, Sarah Duffer, Kate Blankenship, Anne Brown, and Minto Brown; and one great grandchild, Morgan Moulton. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with Reverend Dr. W. Lyn Sorrells and Reverend Kathy Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Lee-McRae College, P.O.
