Catherine Cope

Canton-Catherine L. Cope-76, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at Britthaven of Clyde after an extended illness.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a daughter of the late R. M. and Laura Hoyle Cope. She retired from Champion International in 1988 in log production with 40 ½ years of service. She was a member of Canton Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Leatherwood of Canton, Shirley Henson of Sharpsburg, GA, one aunt, Ada Taylor of Canton, special friend, Andrew Haney of Waynesville and three nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes with Reverend Milton Hollifield and Reverend Brian Bird officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery on Newfound Road. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Friday prior to the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Donnie Henson, Matthew Raxter, Mark Raxter, Will Penland, Jeremy Wright and Drew Henson.
