Catherine Donnelly

Canton-Catherine Minerva Lindsey Donnelly, age 97, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at MedWest-Haywood. Catherine was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and a former resident of Binghamton, New York, before moving to Haywood County in 2001. She was the daughter of the late Ira John and Coral Ann Fuller Lindsey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Donnelly, who died in 1997; and a brother, Commodore Lindsey. She worked as a unit receptionist at Binghamton General Hospital. Catherine was an active member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Daughters of the King. Catherine was a former member of the Women's Benefit Association and Broome County Sportsmen's Club and she also enjoyed cooking, crocheting and craft projects. She is survived by a son, John Donnelly of Waynesville; sister-in-law, Mary Lindsey of Binghamton, New York; two nieces, Catherine Semcho of Vestal, New York and Mary Ann Broz of Chester, Pennsylvania; and a nephew, David Lindsey of Chenango Forks, New York. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church with Father Tim McRee officiating. Inurnment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 497 Canton, NC 28716.
