Waynesville-Kate Calhoun Lowe, of Eagles Nest Road, died on Thursday, March 06, 2003 at Autumn Care Nursing Home.

A native of Graham County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Callie Pruett Calhoun. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Phillip Lowe, who died in 2002. She was a member of Waynesville First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Mildred Wolf Bible Class and had taught Bible in various grammar schools. She was a member of the Waynesville Chapter No. 165 of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held the office of Worthy Matron. She retired from the Haywood County Social Services after 30 years where she had held various positions. She was a former member of the Waynesville Business and Professional Club.

She is survived by a son, Phillip Kenneth Lowe of Nashville, Tennessee; three sisters, Minnie Nuckolls, of Hendersonville, Myrtle Smalley and Billie Turner, both of Waynesville; two brothers, Sam and Don Calhoun, both of Waynesville; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Dundon, of Nashville and Phillip Wesley Lowe of Kansas City, Missouri; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2003 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Revered Dr. Robert Prince, III officiating. Waynesville Chapter No 165 of the Order of the Eastern Star will conduct an Eastern Star Service. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Wes Lowe, Bill Teague, David Acosta, Bernie Mock.

Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
