Catherine Stamey

Leicester, Catherine Burnette Stamey, age 91, died at Silver Bluff Nursing Home on Sunday, June 1, 2008. She was a native of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Gaston and Ossie Anders Burnette. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hilliard Stamey, who died in 2002; one son, Dennis Stamey; three sisters, Hazel King, Pearl Garnes and Faye Cagle; four brothers, Ransom, Woodrow, Chester and Thomas Burnette and a grandson, Tod Stamey. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Winderbaum, and her husband, Donny, of Merrick, NY; one son, Everett Stamey, and his wife, Mary, of Leicester; one sister, Sylvia Wright, of Waynesville; one grandson, John Winderbaum, and his wife, Megan ;one granddaughter, Melissa Luckman, and her husband, Don; two great granddaughters, Cheryl Smith, and her husband, Chris and Christina Meadows, and her husband, Andrew and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Warren Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials by be made to a church of ones choice.
