Cathey Mehaffey

Cathey Trull Mehaffey, age 64, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Mission Hospitals – Memorial Campus. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Carl Eldon and Leola Cathey Trull. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Mehaffey who died in 1969; four brothers; and a sister. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Cathey loved painting and cooking. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Clyde Dewey Mehaffey; two daughters, Racquel Bartholomew of Canton and Renee Penland of Waynesville; two sons, Dewey Dewayne Mehaffey and his wife, Tracey and Jerry Dean Mehaffey and his wife, Jaime, all of Canton; a sister, Carleen Duckett and her husband, Bobby, of Clyde; thirteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby and Reverend Dwight Banks officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.
