Charlene Carver

Waynesville-Charlene "Charlie" Grooms Carver, age 61, of Canton died Sunday, April 25, 2004 at her residence. She was a native of Haywood County and had lived in Hendersonville for 17 years before moving back to Haywood County. She was a daughter of the late James Ardell and Jennie Jeanette Francis Grooms. She was married to the late Troy Carver who died November 2001 and was also preceded in death by one son, Kevin Dewayne Edwards. She was a member of Laurel Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved to read and enjoyed flowers. She worshipped her family. She is survived by one daughter, Jeannie Edwards Martinez of Canton, one son, Chuck Edwards and his wife Teresa of Flat Rock, one sister, Audrey Garnes and her husband Bill of Bethel, two brothers, Ralph Grooms of Lexington, NC and Ray Grooms and his wife Shirley of Waynesville, 7 grandchildren, Chris Edwards, Kim Edwards, Luis Martinez, Joshua Martinez, Nicholas Edwards, Jacob Carver and Kendra Carver and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Stacy Woods and Reverend Ted Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at Bill and Audrey Garnes residence, 22 Little Chestnut Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurel Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 83 Schoolhouse Branch Road, Canton, NC 28716.
