Charles Allison

Waynesville-Charles Edward "Ed" Allison, Sr., age 96, of Mockingbird Drive, died Thursday, September 30, 2004 at the Brian Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Charles Randolph and Lena Smathers Allison. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Marie Allison in 1977, three brothers, Hugh, Jack, R.W. "Dock" Allison; three sisters, Pauline Burress, Lucille Parker, and Thelma McClure. He was employed by American Enka Corporation and was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. He was a member of Waynesville Masonic Lodge 259, and he was a charter member of the Mountaineer Antique Automobile Club. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marie Constance Allison; two sons, Charles Edward Allison, Jr. and his wife, Sarah, and Robert Hugh Allison and his wife, Katherine; two sisters, Betty Rogers and Freda Allison, both of Canton; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes, and Cremation Services with Reverend T. E. Robinett officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home and at other times, at the residence. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Waynesville Masonic Lodge 259. The Lodge will open at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Oxford Orphanage, Oxford, NC 27565 or First Baptist Church of Waynesville, P.O. Box 690, Waynesville, NC 28786.
