Charles Greenlee Angel, a man of honor, entered the gates of Heaven February 4, 2025, at the age of 94.
A proud Navy veteran and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, NC, Charles served his country with distinction during the Korean conflict. His time in the service was spent in the esteemed company of Marines, a period of his life he recalled with pride and a sense of camaraderie that never waned. The discipline and respect he learned in the Navy stayed with him throughout his life, shaping the man he became.
After his honorable discharge, Charles returned to civilian life but carried with him the lessons and friendships he had forged in the military. Charles was not only respected for his professional achievements but also adored for his personal qualities. He was a terrific conversationalist, gifted with the ability to captivate any audience with his stories and insights. His friends and family enjoyed keeping company in his presence.
Above all, Charles was a pretty cool Dad. His children admired him for his strength. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A private interment will be held at Western Carolina State Veteran Cemetery of Black Mountain, North Carolina.
Memorial donations in honor of Charles can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, as it was near and dear to his heart.
The care of Mr. Angel has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
