Waynesville, Charles Hubert Bideaux lost his year and a half long battle with cancer April 4, 2009, at age 52. Born July 7, 1956, in Pinehurst, N.C., "Chuck" attended Lycoming College in Pennsylvania before becoming a longtime resident of Waynesville, N.C. His uncanny gift with technology led to a career in computers which included working for Lake Junaluska Assembly and Hinton Rural Life Center. In 2006 he switched to working in home appraisals, but friends and family never let their favorite "computer wiz" stop fixing their computers. Chuck was a devoted father to his daughter, Jessica, and his Canine travel companion, Andy. He had an incredible passion for all animals, but a particular love for the horses that were a constant in his life. Chuck never missed an opportunity to get behind the wheel for a road trip to visit family, to play cheerleader at a horse show, or to put his many skills to use. He was a recreational photographer with an eye for beauty and detail, and an avid basketball fan. But most importantly, Chuck was a loving father, brother, friend, and son. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica, his parents, Rebecca and Rene; his sisters, Debbie and Elise; and his dog, Andy, his faithful companion. A memorial service will be held at Crabtree United Methodist Church in Waynesville on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Clay Smith and Reverend Kathleen McAbee officiating. Memorial contributions in Chuck's honor may be made to Hinton Rural Life Center, P.O. Box 27, Hayesville, NC 28904, the Hope for Horses Equine Rescue, P.O. Box 1449 Leicester, NC 28748 or the SPCA, P.O. Box 446 Black Mountain, NC 28711.
