Charles Kenneth "Old Man" Bolden, age 72, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Ben Bolden and Ruth Lankford. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Bolden and his aunt and uncle, Dewey and Hattie Justice. Charles retired from Champion International with 35 years of service. He loved spending time outdoors and hunting, spending time in his rocking chair on his back porch. He loved reading war and history books. He loved telling smoky mountain stories and loved God and reaching heaven. He was a member of the Sonoma Masonic Lodge #472 AF & AM. Charles set up several scholarship funds. He was a United States Army veteran. He is survived by a son, Anthony Bolden; one sister Rachelle and her husband, Danny Ray Wood, Sr., of Canton; one aunt and true friend, Willa Carswell of Canton; three nephews, Danny Ray Wood, Jr. and his wife, Christy, Jonathon Wood, and Jodie Wood and his wife, Ashley, all of Canton; one great nephew, Dalton Ray Wood; one great niece, Abigail Wood; and two special friends, Ralph Stiles and Phillip Allen. Pallbearers will be Phillip Allen, Ralph Stiles, Roy Duvall, Howard Robinson, Lester Roberts, and Bob Paxton. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2009 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Stephen Miller officiating and Roy Allen reading the obituary. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
