Charles Clay "Charlie" Bryant, age 79, of Patton Farm Road, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Bulls Gap, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Ted and Emma Sue Bryant. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ferbia Barker Bryant, who died in 1982; two brothers, Frank and Lefty Bryant; and a daughter, Barbara Sue Bryant. Charlie retired from American Enka Corporation with over 30 years of service and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He served in the North Carolina National Guard from 1950 until 1952. He is survived by three sons, David Bryant of Cashiers, Tony Bryant of Atlanta, and Steve Bryant of Canton; one sister, Betty Bryant of Raleigh; one brother, Robert Bryant of Raleigh; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service and also at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
