Clyde, Charles Edward Cagle, age 75, of Chambers Mountain Road, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015 at The Homestead following a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Jack and Georgia Silvers Cagle and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Howell and one sister, Bobbie Jo Gaddis. He was a US Air Force Veteran and worked as a construction contractor and professional wedding photographer before retiring in 2000. Charles loved to go fishing and also enjoyed working in his garden. Charles is survived by a daughter, Wanda Cagle Long and her life partner, Jim Heck, of Aiken, South Carolina; life partner, Janet Lance, of Clyde; three grandsons, Joshua McElrath and wife, Amanda of Weaverville, Kevin Long and wife, Holli, of Waynesville; and Mark Howell and wife, Rhiannan, also of Waynesville; and three great-grandchildren, Nathanael, Drake and Katelynn. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 23, 2015 at Green Hill Cemetery with grandson, Joshua McElrath officiating with prayer. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Haywood County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at 1:30 until service time at the cemetery.
