Charles "Sonny" Alexander Childers

Clyde, Charles "Sonny" Alexander Childers of Maggie Valley, NC passed away on July 27, 2023.

Charles was born June 20, 1939, in Lincolnton, NC to Charles Paul and Josephine Jonas Childers.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Paul & Josephine Jonas Childers and his brother, Paul "Pete" Childers.  He is survived by his brother, David Childers.  Charles graduated from Appalachian State Teachers College.  He was a beloved teacher and principal for 40 years.

Charles is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Childers.  He is survived by his two daughters, Debra Bryant of Fountain Inn, SC and Paulette Childers of Lake Junaluska, NC and preceded in death by his son "Von" Hart.  He is also survived by three granddaughters, Elisha Leonard (Chris), Shelly Teague (Joshlyn) and Shanna Hart; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jeremy and Daniel Leonard, Austin, Maddie and Jonas Teague, and Makenzie Hart.

The family extends sincere appreciation to his companions, Yolanda Ferguson, Christy Patterson, Sue Sharp and Four Seasons Hospice.
