Charles Cole, Sr.

Canton - Charles William "Bill" Cole, Sr., age 73, of 524 Brady Circle died Friday, September 2, 2005 at Memorial Mission Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the son of the late James B. and Martha Justice Cole. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Robert Cole. He retired from Champion International with 43 years of service as a machine operator. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church and a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean conflict. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Sue Pless Cole, he is survived by a daughter, Karen Cole Underwood and her husband, Mack of Aiken, SC; two sons, Charles W. Cole, Jr., and his wife, Pam of Old Fort and James C. Cole and his wife, Jackie of Canton; a sister, Eva Jean Cole Muse of Candler; three grandchildren, Jennifer Underwood and Jonathan and Harley Cole all of Canton and a great-grandson, Casey Cole Underwood of Canton. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2005 at Plains United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Jack Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 524 Brady Circle.
