Charles Ducker

Charles Edward Ducker, age 79, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late George Dewey and Maude Devlin Ducker. He was also preceded in death by a brother and a grandson. Charles was a very loving, caring, and helpful father. He adored all children and was especially fond of his grandchildren. He was always there for anyone who needed him. He is survived by a son, Norman Ducker and his wife, Angelina, of Asheville; three daughters, Catherine Ducker Bailey and her husband, James, of Clyde, Norma Jean North of Asheville, and Christine Ducker Williams and her husband, Dean, of Canton; three sisters, Roberta, Shirley, and Carolyn; a brother, H. L. "Bud" Ducker; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his former wife and friend, Charlene Gentry. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Michael Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Candler. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
