Charles Davis

Waynesville, Charles Francis Davis, age 56, of 100 Reece Road, died on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of Betty Reece Birchfield and the late Charles W. Davis. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Donald Birchfield. He was owner of Birchfield Septic and enjoyed restoring cars and playing cards. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his stepmother, Doris Davis, of Maiden, NC; one daughter, Vanesa Davis, of Hendersonville, NC; one stepson, Ben Anderson and wife, Jasmine, of Sumter, SC; one brother, Ed Davis and his wife, Patsy, of Hickory, NC; two sisters, Shirley Davis and Nancy Florence and her husband, Larry, of Sumter, SC; one stepsister, Glenda Smith and her husband, Van, of Maiden, NC; three stepbrothers, Randy Ross and his wife, Martha, and Allan and Gary Ross, all of Maiden, NC; one step-granddaughter, Schyler; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Rick Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike and Alex Ashe, Dale Jones, Richie Gaddis, Logan Dills, and Gene Hill. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Ashe, Kenneth "Dude" Best, Randy Ross, Larry "Weasel" Jones, Larry Mintz, and Danny Conner. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
