Charles Fairbanks

CHARLES EDWIN FAIRBANKS "Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather" Waynesville, Charles Edwin Fairbanks, 81, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at The Homestead. A native of DeKalb County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Neligan and Alice Buford Fairbanks. Charles served in the U. S. Navy and retired from the University of North Carolina Public Television in 1999. He loved his flowers and was an avid gardener and also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Charles is survived by his wife of 40 years, Marjorie Fairbanks; three daughters, Cheryl Davis, and her husband, Larry, of Atlanta, Georgia, Deborah Johnston, of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Stephanie Schramm, of Marietta, Georgia; and four grandsons. Friends are invited to visit the family on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from noon until 6:00 p.m. at the home in Waynesville. A memorial service will be held in Atlanta at a later date.
