Charles Franklin

Waynesville - Charles Richard Franklin, age 60, of Suttontown Road, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of late Robert Britt and Gladys Carver Franklin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Franklin and a sister, Elaine Putnam. Richard was a very loving father, grandfather, and husband, and thought the world of his grandchildren. He loved to camp and had just purchased his own "Schoolie Bago" to go camping with his wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Peggy Burgess Franklin; two daughters, Kimberly Holt and her husband, John, of Waynesville and Missy Rich and her husband, Tracey, of Sylva; one son, Darren Franklin and his wife, Debbie, of Fairview, NC; two brothers, James Franklin and his wife, Brenda, and Michael Franklin and his wife, Angie, all of Waynesville; six grandchildren, Geran and Ronin Holt, William and Kameron Rich, Ashley Grooms, Amanda Merrell; and one great grandchild, Sabrina Grooms. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Cove Creek Baptist Church, of which he was a member, with Reverend Billy Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends from Noon until 3:00 p.m. prior to services at the church and at other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Cove Creek Missionary Baptist Church, 1397 Cove Creek Road, Waynesville, NC 28785.
