Charles Griffith

Waynesville-Charles Edwin "Ed" Griffith, age 82, of 160 Courtland Court, died on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at his residence. A native of Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Bennett Charles and Ruth Vaughn Griffith. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, James, Oliver, and Alvin Griffith. He was a building superintendent at E.L. Jones and Son for 15 years, retiring in 1979. He loved baseball and basketball and was an avid Atlanta Braves and Tarheel fan. Charles also loved gardening and dance. He is survived by his wife of six years, Nancy Guffey Griffith; two daughters, Nancy Griffith Price and her husband, Eddie, of Simpsonville, SC and Betty Griffith Bourgeois of Easley, SC; one son, Charles Griffith and wife, Rose, of Greer, SC; three stepchildren, Yelena Fisher and husband, Lew, of Arden, Reneé Miller and husband, Doug, of Ruthfordton and Toni Yelton and husband, David, of Spindale, NC; one brother, Waymon Griffith and wife, Gail, of Simpsonville, SC; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Jarrett; eight step-grandchildren; and six great step grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Broadriver Baptist Church Cemetery in Rutherfordton with Reverend Rickey Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
