Charles Holder

Waynesville, Charles Herman Holder, age 78, died on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at his residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Willis Ray and Bonnie Warren Holder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant children, Deborah Ann and Charles Timothy Holder and two brothers, Carroll and Ray Holder Jr. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked at Dayco for 39 years and retired from the Maintenance Department in 1990. Charles loved his family dearly. He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren, gardening, and working in his yard. He had a zest for life and loved a good laugh. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Velda A. Holder; one daughter, Rebekah Olson and her husband, Glenn, of Naples, FL; one brother, Bruce Holder and his wife, Shelby, of Clyde; and two grandchildren, Meagan Kay and Timothy Daniel Price. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
