Charles Justice

December 24, 1923 — March 5, 2008

Waynesville, Charles Joseph "C. J." Justice, age 84, of 37 C.J. Justice Drive, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Brian Center. A native of Madison County, he had lived in Haywood County since 1965. He was the son of the late Charlie Breckenridge and Mary Leona Webb Justice. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Dean, and Reverend Ray Justice and a sister, Sarah Plemmons. He was a US Army veteran of World War II and retired from Champion International. He was a life-long farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska and was also a former deacon of Antioch Baptist Church. He had written his own biography and was a great storyteller. C. J. loved to draw and carve. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary West Justice; two daughters, Daphene J. Miller and her friend, Van Revis, of Waynesville and Doris J. Meadows and her husband, Mike, of Waynesville; two sons, Troy Justice and his wife, Janice, of Waynesville and Doyle Justice and his wife, Beth, of Clyde; one sister, Dortha Smith, of Waynesville; three brothers, James Justice and his wife, Wanda of Brevard, Charlie Justice and his wife, Peggy, of Candler, Edward Justice and his wife, Eleanor, of Waynesville; four grandchildren, Nathan and Andrea Justice, Merrie Belle Meadows and her fiance', Scott Gentry, and Angela Meadows Greene and her husband, Larry; four great grandchildren, Jackson and Bryson Justice, Thomas Wayne Worley, and Leland Scott Gentry; and a special friend, Daniel Bacon. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska with Reverend James Huey, Reverend Lloyd Fish, and Reverend Barry Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska, and at other times, the family will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska, 154 Sunset Ridge, Clyde, NC 28721 or the Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 931, Waynesville, NC 28786.
