Charles Knickerbocker

Canton – Charles Jay Knickerbocker, age 89, passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Cortland County, New York, he was the son of the late Walter and Bernice Dietrich Knickerbocker. He lived most of his life in Tompkins County, New York and resided in North Carolina since 2005. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alviena Doty Knickerbocker; and three brothers, Hugh, Clesson and Robert Knickerbocker. Charles will be remembered for being a hard-working, stoic man who was devoted and selfless to his family and all who knew him. Charles is survived by his daughter, Trudi Seely of Canton; his son, Gary Knickerbocker of Enon, Ohio; four grandchildren, Andrew and Mason Knickerbocker, Holli Frock and her husband, Jeremy and Jay Seely and his wife, Shilo; and two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Maddi Frock. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the V. A. Medical Center Voluntary Service, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805.
