Charles Mcdaniel

Waynesville, Charles Edward McDaniel, age 76, of 227 Brook Street, passed away on Friday, December 02, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late William Edward and Viola Franklin McDaniel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, infant, Mary Ann McDaniel, Betty Haney, and Sharon Rathbone; and one brother, David McDaniel. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the Dayco Corporation after 39 years service. Charles owned and operated The Tropical Shop. He was an active member of Beth Eden Baptist Church, but will be remembered most for his caring spirit. He also enjoyed fishing at Fontana and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Jean Lowe McDaniel; three sons, Ronnie and Mike McDaniel, and Doug McDaniel and his wife, Lisa, all of Waynesville; two sisters, Joan Greenman, of Greenville, South Carolina and Jackie Browning of Waynesville; and four grandchildren, Charlie McDaniel and his wife, Stevie, and Justin, Bailey, and Carly McDaniel. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Wheeler officiating. Entombment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 prior to services at the funeral home.
