Charles Millwood

January 24, 1935 — November 1, 2015

Waynesville, Charles Dave Millwood, age 80, passed away after extended illness on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Homestead. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Dave and Barbara Burress Millwood and was also preceded in death by an infant son, Richard DeWayne Millwood. Charles was a valued employee for 48 years with Haywood Builders Supply Company, retiring in 2000 as a shop manager. His hobby and passion outside of work was his family and tending to his farm at Lake Junaluska. Charles was a member at Lakeview Church of the Nazarene. Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Messer Millwood; two daughters, Charlene Carswell and her husband, Tommy, of Lake Junaluska and Susan Scruggs and her husband, Randy, of Lake Junaluska; one grandchild, Charlie T. Carswell and his wife, Colleen, of Leander, Texas; a great-grandchild, Christopher Carswell; and a special caregiver, Suky Clark. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Rhonda Haney and Reverend Tim Pullin officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Healthcare Foundation (Hospice in memo line of check) c/o The Homestead 127 Sunset Ridge, Clyde, NC 28721.
