Waynesville, Charles Thomas "Tommy" Milner, Jr., age 50 of 31 Paralee Lane, died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Brian Center of Waynesville. He was born in Newport News, VA and had resided in Haywood County since 1971. He was preceded in death by his father Charles Thomas Milner and his grandfather Sam Milner. He was a graduate of Tuscola High School and began working at his grandfather's welding shop; Sam's Welding, at age 16 where he was employed for 32 years. He had produced many welding projects in and around Waynesville. Tommy was happy to have his many friends around him throughout his illness over the past five years. He is survived by his mother and stepfather; Shirley Taylor-Paton and her husband George Paton of Johnson City, TN; one brother, Daniel Mathew Milner of Cleveland, OH; grandmother, Lena Milner of Jacksonville, MS; and a cousin, Randy Patterson and his wife Melanie of Jacksonville, MS. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Josh Walls will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
