Waynesville, Charles Otis "Red" Brooks, age 66, of Conner Road Ridge Road, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Geneva Creasman Brooks. Charles worked as a roofer and was a fan of NASCAR. Red also enjoyed summer afternoons barbequing with family and friends, and he loved to go fishing. Charles is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kristen "Cricket" Southers Brooks; three daughters, Charly Ann Jupin and husband (Eric) and Bobbi Jean Brooks of New Jersey and Sherry Lynn Hoyle of Sylva; three sons, Brian Brooks of Sylva and Charles and Hunter Brooks of Waynesville; nine sisters, Jean Bumgarner of Canton, Lynn Roberts (Dale), Wanda Brooks and Jenny Parton (Jeremiah) of Waynesville, Joan Maier and Tonya Rich of Clyde; Christy Christopher (Jerry) of Maggie Valley; Carrie Cramer (Pete) and Gloria Tart (Brian) of Hickory, two brothers, Danny Brooks of West Virginia and Thomas Jones of Hickory; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to services.
