Charles Putnam, Sr.

Waynesville, Charles Eugene Putnam, Sr., age, 68, of 68 Thunder Road, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his residence. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Charlie Randolph and Callie Price Putnam. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raeford and Earl Putnam. He was a United States Army Veteran stationed in Athens, Greece. Charles was a truck driver for Vigoro Industries for 20 years and Haywood County Co-op for 16 years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, NASCAR, Earnhardt #3, and listening to George Jones. He is survived by a son, Charles Putnam, Jr. and his wife, Tammy, of Waynesville; two sisters, Joyce Southerland, and her husband Bob, of Clyde and Betty Jean Russell and her husband, Robert, of Waynesville; two grandsons, Joshua and Harley; numerous nieces and nephews, Callie Putnam, Brenda Anderson, Jeremy Putnam and Bobby and Frank Southerland and DeWayne and Angie Russell. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2013 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry Parks officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
