Charles Rathbone

Waynesville-Charles Thomas "Tommy" Rathbone, age 60, of Cozy Cove, died on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Dale and Frankie Guy Rathbone. He worked in the Maintenance Department at Dayco and retired in 1998 after 32 years employment. He attended Haywood Community College and later worked for ROR. He was a member of the Old Smokey Tractor Club and enjoyed working on cars and tractors. Tommy also enjoyed fishing and gardening and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Gail Johnson Rathbone; two daughters, Stacy and Tracy Rathbone, both of Waynesville; one son, David Rathbone, of Waynesville; two sisters, Donna McCall and her husband, Sid, of Balsam and Judy Roberts and her husband, Charlie, of White Pine, TN; and one brother, Ronald Rathbone and his wife, Doris, of Lake Junaluska. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
