Charles Warren

September 25, 1925 — January 25, 2010

Charles Noah Warren, age 84, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 in the hospice center of Charles George VA Medical Center. Mr. Warren was born September 25, 1925 in Candler, where he resided his entire life. He married Stella D. from Bayonne, NJ on December 5, 1945. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Kelly Rene Phillips; his parents, Charlie J. and Mae Pressley Warren; and two sisters, Nettie Mease and Reva Hunter. Noah was a Champion International Paper retiree with 27 years of service. He entered the United States Navy in 1943 and served in World War II and Korea. After returning to his home in Candler, he joined the Asheville branch of Naval Reserves, where he was a plank owner. He won 7 battle stars and carried a citation for the battle of Normandy in World War II. Noah was a person who loved his country and felt proud to always serve it. He was a lifetime member of the Canton chapter of the VFW and a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. He is survived by his spouse, Stella D. Warren; a son, Charles E. Warren and his wife, Amy, and granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Warren; a daughter, Janet W. Rudisill and her husband, Lewis, and their children, Michael and Jason, and a daughter, Donna W. Reeves and her husband, Jerry. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Ridgeway Baptist Church with Reverend Jack W. Collins officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the nurses at the Charles George VA Medical Center. Memorials may be made to the Charles George VA Medical Hospice Center, 1100 Tunnel Road, Asheville, NC 28805. Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Canton is in charge of the arrangements.
