Waynesville, Charles F. "Chuck" Worrell, Jr., age 82, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at his residence.
Chuck was born in Wilmington, North Carolina in 1938 to the late Charles Franklin and Ethel Pauline Peele Worrell. He graduated from Rome High School in Rome, Georgia. Chuck received his bachelor’s degree from Emory University, in Atlanta, however, he considered himself an honorary alumnus of Baylor University, in Waco, Texas where his three sons and two grandsons attended. Chuck met the love of his life, Anne at Emory and they married in 1959. He had a successful career in the automotive industry as an executive. In 1994, Chuck and Anne retired to Waynesville, North Carolina and embarked on their second career with the opening of High Country Furniture and Design. Chuck valued his faith, family, friends and a good round of golf.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anne Worrell; two sons, Scott Worrell, and his wife, Merry and Doug Worrell, and his wife, Lorrie; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Chuck joins his eldest son, Charles, in heaven, who passed away in 1981.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. The family will be receiving friends following the service at the Wells Events and Reception Center.
The service will be live streamed and will be accessible through Mr. Worrell’s obituary on the Wells Funeral Home website.
