Charlie Goodson

Waynesville, Charlie France Goodson, age 80, passed peacefully Saturday, September 20, 2008 at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the son of the late Jeanie Lucinda Inman and France Goodson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Mathis Goodson who died in 1999; an infant son, Charles David who died in 1947; an infant great-grandson, Dylan Farris who died in 1994; Charlie loved ginseng hunting and walking in the mountains. He dearly loved his grandchildren and his dog, Tana. Charlie is survived by six daughters, Linda Trull and her husband, Roger, Shirley Dudek and her husband, Dave, all of Waynesville, Mary Rubendall and her husband, Jim of Gastonia, Charlene Warren of Bethel, Annette Parris of Sylva and Donna Clayton and her husband, Jeff of Bethel; 20 grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild along with a special friend, May Mathis and caregiver, Becky Musteen. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 28, 2008 in the Chapel of Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville with Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Haywood Regional Medical Center-Hospice, 260 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
