Johnson City, TN-Charles Ruffin "Charlie" Mayberry, II, age 21, died Monday, June 21, 2004 at Johnson City Medical Center from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. A native of Haywood County, he attended Junaluska Elementary through the fourth grade before moving to Concord, NC and later moved to Johnson City, TN where he attended Science Hill High School beginning eleventh grade and graduated in 2002. He was a sophomore at Tennessee Technological University of Cookeville, TN. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing and also enjoyed working with his hands. He is survived by his parents, Charles Ruffin Mayberry and Nancy McCracken Mayberry of Johnson City, TN; a brother, Jack McCracken Mayberry, of the home; maternal grandmother, Nellie Willetts McCracken, of the Bethel community; and paternal grandmother, Janice Worsley Mayberry, of Rocky Mount, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2004 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services with Reverend Josh Cole officiating. Private family interment will be held following the service. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
